Green smoothies are gaining in popularity as people realize that they are a great way to increase your consumption of leafy greens in a easy and great-tasting smoothie.

One of my favorite benefits of green smoothies is that they are easy. The greens don’t require any special prep. The oven is never turned on. All I have to do is throw a bunch of ingredients in the blender and let the machine do its job. It doesn’t get any easier!

Be sure to read all the introductory information; she walks you through the process with really helpful tips (like start with spinach and move on to adding kale, etc., and layer ingredients so the frozen fruit doesn't jam up your blender). There's plenty of information on where to locate unfamiliar ingredients and, of course, smoothies are forgiving, so Lisa encourages you to adjust the ingredients to your own taste. You don't need a super high-end blender, either. I've tried five of the recipes so far and all were seriously yummy. My brain gets confused because the smoothie looks green but tastes sweet.

Perfect for beating the summer heat with all the lovely fresh fruit available.
